Mark your calendars for The 3rd Annual Brooklyn Mutt Show! Mar 24, 2012 to Mar 25, 2012 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM Admission: Donations Appreciated/$25 for dogs to enter contests Billed as "The fun alternative to Westminster" the twin objects of the Show are fun and fundraising. However, borrowing from Westminster Dog Show, James Morrissey of Wild Coyote Studio - who does Westminster dog portraits in their Green Room - will be photographing Mutt show dogs for fundraising. Like Westminster, there will be competitions, but these will be different. Brooklyn Bark's Bark Master will be teaching classes on pet First Aid & CPR to both bring this knowledge into the community as well as to raise money. Celebrity judges, including reality TV's Doggie Moms and Brooklyn City Council members, will be selecting the winners for two days full of contests from "curliest tail" to "looks most like owner." Dogs in the Winners' Circle will be photographed and will receive prize Doggie Bags provided by Brooklyn Bark. Gourmet munchies for dogs will be provided by the FreshPet food truck while gourmet munchies for people will be available from the Food Freaks' Grilled Cheese truck. Sean Casey Animal Rescue will be bringing their adoption van with pups and kitties looking for homes. Other animal rescue groups, including the Wild Bird Fund, will be highlighting their work and distributing literature. And a number of vendors, from local pet supply stores to national companies will offer unique products for pups. Although named "Mutt Show" the Lyceum and Brooklyn Bark invite ALL dogs, whether rescued from a puppy mill or from a high-kill shelter or purchased from a reputable breeder. "Dogs are all equal in the eyes of Brooklyn Bark," says Rachel Bowers, founder of the company. Although there is no stated charge for people admission by donation is requested. For dogs to enter the many contests and win prizes, the fee is $25. All monies will be donated to animal rescue and rehabilitation. Last year's 2nd Annual show attracted over 1,200 attendees and a much larger turnout is anticipated this year with the involvement of Brooklyn Bark.
